Carmichael’s is excited to host Jessica Thompson for a storytime for her book, Buddy the Bulldog.
About the Book:
Buddy the Bulldog tells the Story of the difficult journey from being the smallest pup and being overlooked to finding a loving home at DCCH Center for Children and Families.
As a puppy, Buddy struggled to keep up with their siblings and was often ignored by potential families. Despite attempts to get noticed, Buddy is labeled “too small, too loud, and too hyper.” After suffering several rejections, Buddy ran away, searching for a home, but faced hardships living on the streets. Eventually, Buddy finds refuge in a community where people at a flea market show them kindness, and children are excited to have Buddy join them in their play. The children take Buddy to the DCCH Center; Buddy learns that each child there has also been mistreated and abandoned, but DCCH welcomes them. Buddy found a forever home at DCCH Center, where they thrive and play a key role in making everyone feel safe, included, and loved.
About the Author:
Author Jessica Thompson is no stranger to childcare. She has spent the last 9 years serving children in a variety of roles, and she now finds herself as a Residential Therapist at DCCH. She has a keen understanding of the needs of children from all backgrounds, and her experience helping children handle emotions and overcome struggles makes her an incredible asset. Her experience comes to life in her first published book, Buddy the Bulldog.
