“Medical Cannabis. What is it, and Could I Benefit?” by Dr. Ryan Grell (he/him) @kymedicalmarijuanacenter
First utilized for medicinal purposes 5,000 years ago, medical cannabis has suffered from unjust stigma and political persecution since the 1930s. Public opinion has evolved, and now 38 states offer medicinal cannabis programs- despite technically remaining federally illegal. Join us for a brief dive into the medical cannabis literature and for information regarding Kentucky’s upcoming medical cannabis program.
Dr. Ryan Grell is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He serves as a member of the Kentucky Board of Physicians and Advisors in the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and as an Associate Editor for the Cureus Journal of Medical Science. He is also the owner and Medical Director of Kentucky Medical Marijuana Center- a boutique medical clinic that specializes in certifying patients for medical cannabis.
8:15 PM – Third Speaker
“How to Get Rid of a Body: Methods of Disposition for the Modern Corpse” by Becky Robinson (she/her) @deadparentswhatnow
Burial or cremation—you might think those are the only options for your remains after you shuffle off this mortal coil. But when it comes to methods of disposition—that is, disposing of dead bodies—we’re living in a renaissance! From high tech to eco-friendly, the possibilities are growing every year.
Becky Robison (she/her) is a writer living in Louisville, Kentucky. After she lost both her parents, she created deadparentswhatnow.com to help others in the same position. Recently she quit her corporate communications job to focus on death and dying professionally. Her book “My Parents Are Dead: What Now? A Practical Guide to Your Life After Their Death” is forthcoming from Quirk Books next year.
