Redline Performing Arts presents “RENT” (multiple show times)
RENT is a rock musical by Jonathan Larson, loosely based on Puccini’s opera La Bohème, set in the late 1980s/early 1990s in New York’s East Village.
It chronicles one year in the lives of impoverished young artists and activists dealing with love, loss, social injustice, and the pervasive threat of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
The story follows filmmaker Mark, musician Roger (who has HIV/AIDS), his former roommate Benny (now their landlord), the street drag queen Angel, her lover Tom Collins, S&M dancer Mimi, and performance artist Maureen and her partner Joanne.
