DESCRIPTION:Event Name:\nLouisville Book Festival \nEvent Date:\n2024-10-18 \nWebsite / Ticket Link: \nHome \n \nLocation:\nKentucky International Convention Center \nEvent Host:\nLouisville Book Festival \nEvent Description / Other Info:\nThe 2024 Louisville Book Festival is a free event held in downtown Louisville\, KY on October 18th and 19th from 10 am to 5 pm at the Kentucky International Convention Center. \nThere will be over 150 authors and bookish vendors at this event. You will have the opportunity to meet some amazing authors and hear from them at panels and workshops. \nThis year will continue to give us the opportunity to celebrate the city’s culture and resiliency\, while striving towards the goal that all children have access to books in their home. \nHighway 65 is the divide between east and west Louisville. West of 65\, there are no book stores which greatly reduces access to books for our children and youth\, creating a book desert. \nOur goal for the Louisville Book Festival is to ensure every child that attends the Book Festival on Children’s Day leaves with at least one free age appropriate book. \nWe will continue to work on the goal of getting books in to the hands of children year round through our programs like It Pays to Read. Authors and the full program schedule will be available on the website.

SUMMARY:Grateville Dead Music Festival
DESCRIPTION:For 50 years the Grateful Dead sold out music festivals\, concert halls\, stadiums and great lawns with an iconic signature of music that has reached arguably more people\, in a more impactful way than any other band in history. \nWhile many may not have listened to the band or even know the songs\, they have invariably seen the Grateful Dead iconography and have heard the name. Formed by Jerry Garcia and friends in 1965 the group embodied the spiritual counterculture of the 1960’s\, as part of the Merry Pranksters and ultimately becoming a cultural movement in their own right. \nIn 2015 local entrepreneur and producer Dennie Humphrey and partner\, fellow “deadhead” Ashley Angel produced the very first GrateVille Dead Tribute in honor of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead on Garcia’s birthday. \nIncluding talents like Tyrone Cotton\, Screamin’ John\, Hot Iron Skillet\, Phiasco and the Louisville Merry Pranksters\, the event was an unexpected success\, drawing a huge crowd of over 2\,000 people to the Brown Forman Amphitheater in Louisville’s scenic Waterfront Park despite a very small advertising campaign and only 30 days of planning \nIn 2016\, 2017 and 2018 the gang returned for more smash success at the Brown Foreman Amphitheater drawing even larger crowds for fun\, sun and classic tunes\, with expanded lineups and bigger bands. \n\nFRIDAY\n5pm-11pm \nSATURDAY\n2pm-11pm \nSUNDAY\n2pm-10pm \n(Children 12 & under get in free with a ticket holding adult)

During “The Gold Standard” reception\, enjoy an exclusive performance by members of Appalatin\, culinary expressions by Chef James Coogle of the Chef’s Table and Lexus Lounge\, and West Sixth Brewery will serve their craft beer selection. For those who prefer a cocktail\, enjoy the signature drink of the evening\, the Gold Rush\, which blends local honey and Maker’s Mark Bourbon. \n
