SUMMARY:Holiday Storytime: "Santa Storytime" | family event at Nook & Nowhere
DESCRIPTION:Dearest Community – on this snowy December day\, opportunities for joy and gathering simply abound. \nWhile the smaller humans known as children are always welcome in our space\, we at Nook&Nowhere are pleased and excited to announce our first ever family programming: \n\nStories with Santa this coming Sunday December 14\,\nand a reading of Herschel and the Hannukah Goblins the following Sunday December 21 with Rabbi Freed.\n\nAll folks\, families and children are welcome at both events\, and there is no purchase necessary. These are community celebrations and Mister Santa (sp?) and the Rabbi are eager to be joined by all book lovers. \nShould anyone in our midst see this and think that they\, too\, have traditions or celebrations they would like to share in the coming weeks\, we would be very glad to hear from you and encourage you to send us a message or an email. (I do not fully comprehend this process\, but I was told letters are no longer the done thing and ravens are untamed in this land\, and your messages will find us electronically. \nI was also told\, somewhat ominously\, that there is no escape.) All of this to say\, there are many celebrations this time of year across many faiths\, traditions\, and communities\, but at their heart each and every one is a celebration of light when there is darkness. \nEach stems from a faith that hope can always return. Across time and space\, we are with you in that hope\, and we thank you for sharing your celebrations this season. \nQuite sincerely\,\nMs. Agatha Nestor\nProprietress \n  \n***description from Instagram post \n

SUMMARY:"Spring Awakening" | presented by PRISM Performing Arts
DESCRIPTION:Through the classic story of the Spring Awakening\, a group of adults unpacks their trauma in a dusty attic filled with memories of their own childhoods along with this iconic story set in a repressive 19th-century Germany. \nIn this world where curiosity is forbidden and innocence is punished\, this group of souls dares to ask the questions no one will answer with a raw\, modern rock heartbeat. \nThis production of Spring Awakening tears the corset off conformity to expose the aching beauty—and devastating consequences—of youth in bloom and also what holding onto the pain of past harm can cause us as adults. \nWith a score that explodes off the stage and lyrics that cut straight to the heart\, Spring Awakening is more than a coming-of-age story—it’s a cry for liberation. \nThis electrifying production from PRISM Performing Arts reimagines the cult classic with unapologetic passion and a queer lens\, reminding us that every generation must fight to break free\, find their voice\, and awaken to their truth. \nThe original Broadway production won 8 Tony Awards\, including best musical. The production is written by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater. \n  \n***description from website \n\nTHIS PRODUCTION IS PRESENTED THROUGH SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT WITH MUSIC THEATRE INTERNATIONAL (MTI).
