SUMMARY:KY Shakespeare's "Emma"
DESCRIPTION:Emma Woodhouse is clever\, educated\, and energetic… and in imminent danger of going mad with idleness. In a time when respectable ladies are expected to sit quietly at home\, she desperately needs projects—and prides herself on matchmaking\, much to the chagrin of her friend Mr. Knightley. But where Emma’s considerable energies focus\, screwball comedy follows… A sparkling new take on a treasured classic\, this Emma will sashay right into audience’s hearts with vibrant comic flair\, as she asks “isn’t it fun to watch me try?” \n“Inventively and deliriously fun. Austen positioned Emma’s meddling as the product of a keen mind marooned in a society with little use for it\, but Hamill goes one better\, showing how wealth and class feed Emma’s dilettantism… Prepare to be charmed.” – Star Tribune \n“Hamill’s adaptation is an absolute marvel\, a breathtaking work of comedic and feminist genius that we believe Jane Austen would be fiercely proud of.” – Aisle Say \n\nEMMA is presented through special arrangement with and all authorized performance materials are supplied by:\nTRW PLAYS\, 1180 Avenue of the Americas\, Suite 640\, New York\, NY 10036. http://www.trwplays.com \n\nEMMA\nby Kate Hamill\nBased on the novel by Jane Austen\nOriginally commissioned and produced by Guthrie Theater\, Joesph Haj\, Director \nDates/Times:\nFriday\, January 9 – 7:00PM\nSaturday\, January 10 – 2:00PM and 7:00PM\nSunday\, January 11 – 2:00PM\nWednesday\, January 14 – 7:00PM\nThursday\, January 15 – 7:00PM\nFriday\, January 16 – 7:00PM\nSaturday\, January 17 – 2:00PM and 7:00PM\nSunday\, January 18 – 2:00PM \nLocation: Actors Theatre of Louisville – Pamela Brown Auditorium\, 316 West Main Street\, Louisville\, KY 40202 \nTickets: $25 (plus $5 Actors Theatre service charge)

SUMMARY:New Year's Lantern Making Workshop | with artist Makara Thach Sernett
DESCRIPTION:It’s getting colder and the year’s end is approaching. Warm up in your coziest outfit and join us for this unique lantern making class. \nTheme: New Years Wishes\nYou will be taken step-by-step together to produce a classic Asian round lantern. But there’s a twist! There will be a variety of designs on tissue for you to cut out and paste to make a lantern that is special to you. Have other embellishments you want to add? Bring them! \nWhile making our lanterns\, we will reflect on 2025 – the good\, the bad\, the ugly – and symbolically bid 2025 farewell. You can write a little note and tie it inside the lantern along with the LED light. \nAll materials will be provided so you’ll only have to bring a date or friends for maximum fun. There will be light snacks and refreshments provided\, but you can bring your own snacks and beverages too. \nWhen finished\, you will take your lantern with you while we collect all the supplies for future use. \nYou are encouraged to take lots of pictures throughout the process and tag @makarathachsernett and @otakuloungelou when posting to social media. You may be featured in our stories and feed. \nDisclaimer:\nThis event is for ages 18 and up. Underaged guests must be accompanied by an adult. \nDue to the nature of this event\, all sales are final. No refunds\, trades\, reschedules for no shows to the event. If you cannot attend\, we recommend you send someone else in place of you. \nIf we need to cancel or reschedule due to inclement weather or emergencies\, we will communicate with you about this. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled event due to this reason\, we will give a full refund for your inconvenience. \n\n\nDate & Time: Saturday\, January 10th\, 2026\, 4pm-6pm\nLocation: Otaku Manga Lounge\,  2525 Bardstown Rd\, Ste 108\, Louisville\, KY 40205\nTheme: New Year’s Wishes
