SUMMARY:The $20 Plus Art Show
DESCRIPTION:TL;DR: The $20 Plus Art Show is BACK!\nWhen: Friday\, December 13th\, 2024 | 6–9 PM\nWhere: Louisville Science Center | FREE Admission \nWhat’s New:\n• Most art still $20!\n• For the first time\, larger pieces priced above $20.\n• New downtown venue in a space where science and art collide! \nThe $20 Plus Art Show\nLouisville Science Center\nFriday\, December 13th\, 2024 | 6 PM – 9 PM \nFREE ADMISSION | ALL AGES \nHold onto your beakers\, folks—we’re back! And for the first time in forever (OK\, 24 years)\, we’re shaking things up. Here’s the scoop:\nWay back in the year 2000\, when gas was $1.50 a gallon and $20 could get you dinner and a movie (with snacks!)\, artists John King and Mike Ratterman came up with a brilliant idea: create art worth $20—not a clearance sale\, but a creative challenge. That idea grew into the beloved $20 Art Show\, where artists pour their talent\, time\, and imagination into work that’s accessible to everyone. \nFast-forward to 2024\, and while $20 isn’t quite the powerhouse it used to be\, we’re keeping the tradition alive while evolving with the times. For the first time in the show’s history\, we’re introducing the $20 Plus Art Show! What’s the “plus\,” you ask? Well\, artists will still have the majority of their work at the original $20 price point\, but for the first time ever\, they’ll also offer a selection of larger\, more substantial pieces—priced to reflect the time\, experience\, and love poured into them. \nBig Changes This Year\nIt’s on a Friday! We know\, wild.\nIt’s downtown at the Louisville Science Center! We couldn’t be more excited to host this year’s show in such an iconic\, creative hub of Louisville. Science and art go hand in hand—both require imagination\, curiosity\, and sometimes an explosion or two. So\, what better place to celebrate local artists than surrounded by incredible science exhibits? \nYes\, this also means you can nerd out about gravity and grab one-of-a-kind art for your holiday gifting needs—win-win!\nParkside Bike Shop and Coffee will be on hand serving coffee and chatting about bikes\, while Green River and Bardstown Bourbon will offer signature cocktails and complimentary tastes.\nThe $20 Art Show wouldn’t exist without the vision of artists John King\, Mike Ratterman\, and the original crew—Tish Quesenberry\, Scott Scarboro\, and others—who started this whole thing in the old Clay Street space.
