DESCRIPTION:This special concert series features fellow Kentuckian and jazz pianist Kevin Harris\, marking Music For A Purpose’s first foray into the jazz genre. \nProceeds from the performances will benefit the Louisville Urban League\, supporting our work to expand jobs\, justice\, education\, health\, housing\, and Black business in West Louisville. Join us for an intimate concert experience at The Cafe in Paristown\, where music meets atmosphere in a cozy\, up-close setting. \nWith limited tickets available\, this intimate concert invites all who appreciate live music to experience every note up close. \nDoors open at 6:00 PM\, so arrive early to secure the best seating and enjoy dinner at the Cafe before the show begins. \nTickets are required. \n\nAbout the Artist\n\nKevin Harris is an internationally recognized jazz pianist and composer known for his soulful sound\, artistic curiosity\, and innovative collaborations.\nRooted in Black Gospel and Afro-Caribbean traditions\, his music weaves together jazz\, classical\, electronic media\, and storytelling to create immersive\, participatory performances that engage both heart and mind. Praised by artists such as Fred Hersch and Terri Lyne Carrington\, Harris’s work explores themes of strength\, love\, and self-awareness.\nA prolific composer and bandleader\, Harris has released six albums and premiered major works including Resonance: A Contemporary Symphonic Reflection Through the Courageous Lens of Steve Biko in South Africa.\nHe is a Yamaha Jazz piano artist and serves on the faculty at Berklee College of Music\, where he coaches ensembles\, teaches piano\, and mentors emerging musicians.
