SUMMARY:The Sounds of Beep Baseball
DESCRIPTION:The Louisville East Lions Club\, in partnership with the Indy Thunder\, invite the public to The Sounds of Beep Baseball on Saturday\, June 27\, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Kenwood Heights Christian Church\, located at 5620 Newcut Road\, Louisville\, Kentucky. \nThe community event will introduce attendees to beep baseball\, an adaptive version of baseball designed for athletes who are blind or visually impaired. \nGuests will have the opportunity to learn about the sport and participate in live demonstrations from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. \nThe event will also feature a screening of the documentary Thunder Rolls: The World of Blind Baseball\, presented with audio description for individuals who are blind or have low vision. Organizers hope the event will help raise awareness about both adaptive sports and the importance of accessibility in entertainment and media. \nMembers of the Indy Thunder team\, along with general manager and assistant coach Darnell Booker\, will be present for demonstrations and audience interaction. \nThe Indy Thunder are one of the most successful teams in the sport\, having won six of the last nine NBBA World Series championships while completing an undefeated 26–0 season in 2025. \nIn addition to the sports demonstrations and movie presentation\, exhibitors from organizations serving individuals who are blind or visually impaired will be on hand to share information about low vision services\, assistive technology\, education\, and community resources available throughout the region. \nThe Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation Vision Van will also be on site to provide free vision screenings for both adults and children\, helping to promote early detection and awareness of vision-related conditions. DESCRIPTION:All proceeds go to South Louisville Community Ministries’ mission of providing emergency assistance and compassionate advocacy to our neighbors in crisis. \nWHERE:\n700 Central Avenue This year we will be in the First Turn Club – not Millionaires’ Row! If you enter from Central Avenue\, you’ll drive all the way to the end of the track and park in the Yellow Lot. \nWHEN:\n6-8:30 Registration begins at 5:45pm. Please do not arrive before this time! There is no where to wait for the doors to open and it’s too hot for that. The event will conclude around 8:30PM. There are no paper tickets for this event\, and guests will check in with their names. \nAttire:\nIn honor of SLCM 50th birthday\, we’re asking everyone to dress up just a bit. Please encourage your guests to wear their Derby (or cocktail) attire! \nWhat to expect:\nWe have 30 amazing local vendors who will be sharing their food and drink. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. \nOur silent auction has more than 75 items this year! These will be available to bid on in-person only until 8:15pm. See you there!

We are the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. \nNAMI Louisville is membership-based and headed by our current Executive Director Nancy Brooks who answers to a board of local peers as well as is supported by a host of dedicated volunteers. \nWe are very excited to host our biggest annual fundraiser on September 12\, 2026\, with a fundraising goal of $100\,000. \nNAMIWalks Louisville will take place in downtown Louisville\, at Harbor Lawn in Waterfront Park (301 E River Rd\, Louisville\, KY 40202). \nWe have always aimed to meet the needs of our mental health community\, and so now more than ever our non-profit appreciates your support for our operation to continue this valuable work with the increasing demands for mental health education\, advocacy\, and support!
