All dances taught. No experience required! Strawberry wine drink specials all day. \nWhirligigs is a Kentucky Proud traditional string band that plays square dances and community events in the Louisville area. \n—The 6-person band includes — \n\nSarah Moran (fiddle): In addition to playing fiddle with Whirligigs\, Sarah is a member of Squirrel Jam\, a string band playing Kentucky tunes (with a little Irish & bluegrass for fun). Sarah is a recently retired French teacher and current bourbon educator in Louisville.\nElizabeth Riesser (bass): Elizabeth keeps the beat on the bass for both the Whirligigs and Squirrel Jam. She can also be seen playing around town with Aseye drum ensemble.\nJon Riesser (guitar): Jon enjoys providing guitar accompaniment for traditional music. He also plays in Squirrel Jam and The Cottonwood Buds\, where you’ll catch him doing some flatpicking as well.\nLisa Sandell (mandolin): On work days\, with a lab coat and test tubes\, Lisa holds up her cover story as a serious scientist studying vitamin A. On Whirligig band nights\, she dons a fiddle and mandolin and her true inner cowgirl identity is revealed.\nTodd Childers (banjo): By day\, Todd operates a small urban family farm. By night\, you’ll find him at the old time jam\, playing for a dance\, or on his back porch picking out some new old tune.\nKatie McBride (guitar): Katie is a technical writer and editor who finds much joy in playing music for a room full of enthusiastic dancers. She also can be found picking tunes at bluegrass\, old time\, and Irish festivals with her mandolin or fiddle.\n\nDescription from Facebook event
