SUMMARY:Louisville Bicycle Club - Tour de Mad Dog Series: A Good Second Century Stage
DESCRIPTION:All are welcome to join us for this Louisville Bicycle Club’s Tour de Mad Dog Series stage. This is an excellent route to target for your first century\, even though it is called a Good Second Century. \nRide Distance: 101 miles\nRide Terrain & Pace: 3C -Mostly flat\, with some short\, gradual hills. Recommended for beginners but could be challenging for some. Moderate/12-14 mph average pace/will be swept at 13 mph average—Riders are expected to maintain this average\, averaging faster on flats.\nElevation Gain: 2500 ft.\nSurface Type: Road\nStarting Location: Mile Wide Beer Co.\, 636 Barret Ave\, Louisville\, KY 40204\, USA \nRoute Description: Several years ago\, John Cummings and Andy Murphy hosted “A Good First Century.” The ride featured very little climbing. I will host what I’ll call “A Good Second Century.” This ride will go through the Jefferson Memorial Forest and Iroquois Park–a total of 2500′ of elevation gain. You should have some miles in your legs and be prepared to do a bit of climbing. Store stops will be plentiful on the route. The ride will be swept at a 13 mph average pace.\nThe route is sort of a figure eight that will start at Mile Wide Brewing Company in Louisville\, KY. The course will go out the Louisville Loop to Southwest Jefferson County\, through parts of Jefferson Memorial Forest\, Iroquois Park\, and back to Mile Wide Brewing for the first part of the route. You will then head from Mile Wide Brewing to New Albany via the Ohio River Greenway\, then back to Jeffersonville to Utica\, and back to Mile Wide Brewing to conclude the ride.\nIf this is your first Century\, that’s cool; just be prepared. \nPre-ride announcements will occur at 8:00 AM\, and we ride at 8:15 AM.\nWe have six store stops on the route.\nThere is a lunch stop if you want to grab something from a McDonald’s.\nThis is a self-supported ride\, so be prepared. We do not have any sags.\nRide with GPS Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/40189337\nLBC Ride Credit: Yes\nRide Captain: Dominic Wasserzug \nThis is a free event as part of the Mad Dog Ride series. Registration is not required; however\, it is encouraged. \n  \n***description from Facebook event
