SUMMARY:Beginner Sourdough Class
DESCRIPTION:When I first began learning about baking sourdough bread I was completely overwhelmed. I read pages and pages of information online\, checked out tons of books\, watched videos\, took online classes and I still couldn’t quite figure out how to make a good loaf of bread. Being quite stubborn and quite determined to learn\, I kept trying. I learned from my mistakes and kept reading tons of information and trying different techniques\, recipes\, and methods. Eventually it clicked and I got that fabulous loaf and then another one and another one and do you know what I felt? Annoyed! I was so annoyed that in all the information I read\, listened to\, or watched everyone seemed to make it more complicated than it needed to be! Sure\, it is not easy. Sure\, it is an art and a science. Sure\, it requires a new way of thinking. Sure\, it is going to take work and upkeep. But you can absolutely do it and I want to teach you in the simplest way possible. All the information out there makes it too confusing and too complicated. This class is meant to simplify the process and teach you a method that will give you the flexibility to bake bread for your family on your schedule. It is a rewarding skill to learn and it is a skill you will continue to grow and benefit from. It truly does take years to master the art of sourdough\, but it only takes this one class to get you started on that journey and to put delicious bread on your table for your friends and family! This is a hands on class and you will be actively engaged in learning how to make a sourdough loaf of bread with your small group. You do not need to bring anything to class. We will provide you with everything you need in class and you will take home your sourdough loaf (uncooked-to bake the next day) and a starter to continue your sourdough journey. Taste testing will also take place so feel free to come hungry! \nClasses will be held at FirstBuild located at 333 East Brandeis Ave\, Louisville\, KY 40208. FirstBuild is a community makerspace and microfactory in Louisville. FirstBuild along with King Arthur Baking Company developed the new Sourdough Sidekick (SourdoughSidekick.com) which is intended to automate sourdough starter feeding and prep work. FirstBuild is graciously allowing our classes to look over and examine this new invention while in class and we are excited to discuss how this could potentially benefit your weekly sourdough routine. \nOnce you have registered you will receive more information the week before your class date. Please note that classes typically last between 2.5-3 hours. Much of the class is standing with hands on involvement but seating is also provided. \nIf you already have a small group that would like to take the class as a private party please reach out to Becky before registering. \n*Please note that classes with 5 or less students will be rescheduled. \n*Because of our small group size and the planning that is required for our classes\, refunds will not be issued unless we are able to fill the seat from the waitlist. You are able to gift your seat to someone of your choosing or donate your seat. Please double check your calendar before registering. \nFor private group lessons or for more information\, please call Becky at 502-439-6720 or email at layne303@gmail.com. \n\n  \n***description from website
