Enjoy your day or evening in our shiver-free pool that’s heated to a pleasant 90°. \nMembers are FREE and non-members are $5/person and a max of $15/family. Payable at at the front desk on the day of the event. \nGoldfish Swim School Family Swim \nA Fun & Beneficial Experience for Any Family \nAs a parent\, you’re probably well aware that kids don’t truly know if they’ll enjoy something until they dive in and do it. Fortunately\, most kids love the water. \n  \nThis open swim time can benefit your whole family because: \n-You can teach your child about water safety & introduce him or her to the water \n-You can relax in our warm pool while your swimmer shows you his or her skills \n-You can determine if your child would benefit from swim lessons \n-Spending time in the pool together is a great way to get energy out \n-Your child will feel more comfortable with you in the water \n  \nPlease Note: For safety purposes\, swim tests are required for children who wish to swim independently. We require at least one adult to be in the water with each child who cannot swim independently during the open swim. \n  \nSWIM TEST REQUIRED: \nOur pool is 4’2” deep. All children that cannot touch with their head above water will be required to pass a swim test at the start of open swim or a birthday party.\nIn order to pass a swim test\, the child must swim 25 feet across the width of the pool head above water without struggle; Ellis Certified Lifeguard will make final determination.\nLifejackets or puddle jumpers that fasten around the center are required for all children that do not pass. Coast guard approved life jackets are available at the facility.\nWe do not allow single arm floaties that do not buckle around the chest for additional support.\nIf a guardian chooses to accompany the child in the pool 100% of the time\, they may remove floatation and practice swim skills with a guardian. \nOTHER REQUIREMENTS: \n· Only proper swim attire is permitted in the pool; no street clothes permitted. \n  \nPlease Note that Family Swim is CANCELLED on the 4th Saturday of each month to allow for team member training. (May 22\, 2025) – Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg unveiled the brand-new Algonquin Park Pool Thursday\, the first new public pool to open in West Louisville since the previous Algonquin Pool was built in the 1960’s. \nThe Mayor was joined by many local leaders for the historic announcement\, including Metro Council members\, Congressman Morgan McGarvey\, and former Congressman John Yarmuth. A group of students from Grace James Academy also joined the Mayor and Councilwoman Tammy Hawkins for a celebratory “first cannon ball” jump into the new pool. \n“For many years\, the Algonquin Park pool was neglected and left in disrepair until it closed for good during the pandemic. When I became mayor in 2023\, this was the first major construction project we funded and started\, and now we can officially say Algonquin Park has the most incredible new public pool in the entire region\,” said Mayor Greenberg. “The neighbors here in Algonquin and the surrounding community deserve to have the best facilities in our city\, and I’m confident this state-of-the-art pool will bring excitement\, memories\, and joy to these families for generations to come.” \nThe new Algonquin Pool offers a range of exciting and inclusive features designed for all visitors. Families can enjoy the family slide\, while swimmers looking for fitness and training will utilize the lap lanes. Adventurous guests can test their balance on the lily pad bridge\, and accessibility is prioritized with a zero-depth entry ramp. For those seeking an extra challenge\, the pool also features a climbing wall and vortex pool\, adding to the dynamic experience. Additionally\, the facility includes a new pool house\, featuring restrooms and a concession area to enhance visitors’ experience. \nWith a total footprint of 13\,000 square feet\, the Algonquin Pool has been thoughtfully designed to ensure an enjoyable experience for all visitors. Louisville Parks and Recreation will provide trained lifeguards to maintain a safe environment throughout the season. \n“The creative design of Algonquin Pool was made with accessibility in mind\,” said Michelle King\, Executive Director of Louisville Parks and Recreation. “There’s something here for everyone—from exciting features to comfortable spaces for relaxation. We’re thrilled to provide this fun\, welcoming space for our community\, and we’re grateful for all the partners who made it possible.” \nIn December 2023\, the Louisville Metro Council voted in favor of Mayor Greenberg’s recommendation to redirect $20 million in American Rescue Plan funding toward Louisville parks and libraries. $ 7.2 million of that funding was devoted to the Algonquin Pool renovations. \n“I have waited and more importantly the community has waited for two years to see this project finally come to fruition. This is a state-of-the-art pool in Algonquin Park\, a pool that many of us have beautiful memories about and some of us learned how to swim for the first time in\,” Councilwoman Tammy Hawkins\, Metro Council District 1 said. “This project would not have been possible without our communities’ voices\, my colleagues on Metro Council\, Mayor Craig Greenberg and Louisville Parks and Recreation. Pool access is from 10am through 4pm.
