SUMMARY:"Liza: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story" @ Speed Cinema
DESCRIPTION:“Liza: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story”\nDirected by Bruce David Klein \nFriday\, March 28\, 6 pm\nSaturday\, March 29\, 3 pm \n$12 | $8 Speed members \n“An unabashed celebration of the woman as told by all her best friends.”—Dan Mecca\, The Film Stage \nThis star-studded tribute brings into focus the dazzling\, complex period of Liza Minnelli’s life starting in the 1970s\, just after the tragic death of her mother Judy Garland\, as she confronts a range of personal and professional challenges on the way to becoming a bona fide legend.\nOver these years\, Liza seeks out extraordinary mentors: Kay Thompson\, Fred Ebb\, Charles Aznavour\, Halston\, and Bob Fosse. With insightful participation from a coterie of colleagues such as Michael Feinstein\, Mia Farrow\, Ben Vereen\, Joel Grey and the late Chita Rivera\, along with the revelatory participation by the star herself\, the film illuminates the contradiction of Liza Minnelli: her privilege and struggle\, strength and vulnerability\, unreal expectations and towering talent—the friction of which fueled her stunning rise\, resilience and her enduring place as one of the greatest\, most original performers in the history of entertainment. 2024\, U.S.\, DCP\, 104 minutes. DESCRIPTION:Pretty Good Concerts Presents\nJohn R. Miller w/ Darrin Hacquard\nAges 18 and up\nThursday\, March 27\nDoors: 7pm // Show: 8pm\n$22 / Day Of : $22 \nJohn R. Miller\nw/ Darrin Hacquard\nThursday March 28\n$18 Advance\, $22 Day of Show\nDoors at 7PM\, Show at 8PM\n18+ \nJohn R Miller is a true hyphenate artist: singer-songwriter-picker. Every song on his thrilling debut solo album\, Depreciated\, is lush with intricate wordplay and haunting imagery\, as well as being backed by a band that is on fire. One of his biggest long-time fans is roots music favorite Tyler Childers\, who says he’s “a well-travelled wordsmith mapping out the world he’s seen\, three chords at a time.” Miller is somehow able to transport us to a shadowy honkytonk and get existential all in the same line with his tightly written compositions. Miller’s own guitar-playing is on fine display here along with vocals that evoke the white-waters of the Potomac River rumbling below the high ridges of his native Shenandoah Valley. \n  \n***Description from website

SUMMARY:The Spring StoryWalk® | “Bird Watch” by Christie Matheson
DESCRIPTION:The Parklands of Floyds Fork invites you to a StoryWalk®! Enjoy reading a children’s book while walking along The Egg Lawn Signature Trail. Follow the signs placed around The Egg Lawn to read the entire story. Along the way learn about nature and complete suggested activities on the back of the signs! Different StoryWalk® will be put up four times this year and they will only be out for a limited time. Once open\, families and individuals can drop in anytime from dawn to dusk to read the story at no charge! Signs will be up by noon on the start day of the event and will be taken down the day after the end date. \nStoryWalk® is an innovative and delightful way for children and adults to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from a children’s book are attached to temporary signs\, which are installed along an outdoor path. As you stroll down the trail\, you’re directed to the next page in the story. On the back of the signs\, you will find more information and activity prompts. StoryWalks® have been installed in 50 states and 13 countries. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier\, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson. \nOur Spring StoryWalk® book is “Bird Watch” by Christie Matheson. \nStory Summary: Search for hidden birds and count them\, too\, in this seek-and-find picture book with a satisfying surprise. Delicate artwork\, a focus on counting\, and an engaging treasure hunt will entice fans of Janell Cannon’s Stellaluna and Steve Light’s Have You Seen My Dragon? There are treasures hiding in the trees! Can you find them? From the author of the acclaimed and bestselling Tap the Magic Tree\, this stunning picture book merges basic math concepts with elements of a treasure hunt. With different species of birds and other forest animals hiding in the trees and bushes\, there is something new to discover on every page. Patience is rewarded as readers learn to count backward from ten\, meet new birds\, and learn about the diverse ecosystem of the forest. Beautiful watercolor-and-collage art\, a playful counting text\, and a search-and-find theme will inspire children and parents to return to Bird Watch again and again. \n  \n***Description from Facebook event
