MakerPlace Workshop: DIY Kalimba
The kalimba is a beautiful instrument that originates from Africa, often called a thumb piano. Consisting of metal tines mounted on a wooden board, which produce melodic, high-pitched tones when plucked.
In this workshop, craft, assemble, and tune your very own kalimba! In this hands-on experience, you’ll bring your instrument to life. Whether you’re a music lover or a DIY enthusiast, discover the joy of creating an instrument that produces beautiful, soothing melodies. Let’s make, play, and enjoy the magic of sound!

MakerPlace Workshops include general admission to Kentucky Science Center.
Open to ages 8+.
Please note that one adult is required to attend the workshop for every two children.
